Trentham Monkey Forest, in Stoke on Trent, will be encouraging visitors to take part in an Easter trail around its grounds this weekend – with a little help from the monkeys too, of course!
The popular monkey forest, which is set in the 750 acres on the Trentham Estate, allows its 140 animals to live freely in a setting similar to their natural habitat in Morocco. Visitors can observe the monkeys at very close quarters, on the ground and in the trees around them.
As we indulge ourselves in Easter eggs, the Barbary macaques will be eating lots of carrots to accompany their healthy diet of fruit, vegetables and seeds – much healthier than chocolate eggs! Find out more about what the monkeys like to eat at one of the hourly talks and feeds taking place each day.
For the chance to win a cuddly Barbary macaque toy, children are encouraged to take part in the Egg-cellent Easter trail, available each day until 23rd April. Face painting will be on offer over the Easter weekend too.
Monkey Forest is open every day from 10am to 5pm, with tickets costing £8.50 for adults and £6.50 for children (under 3’s go free). To find out more visit www.monkey-forest.com or call 01782 659845
