Wildlife Trusts call for photo competition entries

The Wildlife Trusts have been running a series of national photographic competitions this year and there’s still time to enter in a few regions. If you have some great wildlife photos and live in Kent, Sussex or Suffolk. why not submit them to your local Wildlife Trust now.

Photography is one of the many ways you can get out and embrace the wilderness. Whether it’s capturing interesting animal behaviours, breath-taking wildlife habitats or the integration of people and nature – soaking up wildlife through the lens is a truly great way to connect ourselves more with nature

Enter Kent Wildlife Trust’s 10th Wildlife Photography Competition for a chance to win a fantastic prize and receive a prestigious trophy. Entry is free with four categories: Flora; Fauna; Landscape, Coastline & People; and Junior (17 and under).

Competition organiser, Ray Lewis, said: “There is probably no better time to capture images of the natural world. From blossom to teeming pond life; nesting birds to bluebells; or people simply enjoying the great Kentish countryside or seaside – and you don’t need a really cool camera to achieve great results – just an eye for the opportunity!”

Sussex Wildlife Trust are looking for your most beautiful and awe-inspiring wildlife and landscape photographs for their 2018 online calendar.

The theme of this year’s competition is The Joy of Nature. They are looking for 12 stunning photographs which best capture the wildlife and landscapes of Sussex. Amaze them with your local wildlife shots of ladybirds in the  garden, migrating wildfowl, macro spiders, flowers carpeting a woodland floor, colourful fungi, clouds of downland butterflies or a sleeping hedgehog in the park.

Suffolk Wildlife Trust Photography Competition have nine categories to choose from this year. These include Young Photographer Under 12 years old, Young Photographer 12-18 years old, and new for 2017 – Comedy. Other categories include Simply Suffolk, Strictly Come Wildlife, Eastern Angles, Unearthed, Out-of-sight Suffolk and On the doorstep.
