Witness the Great Migration on a balloon safari in the sky

Bespoke tour operator Vivid Travel is offering an alternative take on the traditional Kenyan safari as they focus their holiday experience from the skies.

For the perfect way to view the Great Migration, hop aboard a hot air balloon in the Maasai Mara for an awe-inspring safari in the clouds.

During the summer up to 1.5 million wildebeests, zebras and gazelles flood in to the region in search of water and to graze, braving hungry predators as they cross rivers on their epic journey.

Take off as the sun rises and drift quietly above the plains, rivers and forests. A bird’s eye view offers the perfect opportunity to take some incredible photographs of the stunning scenery  below.

This once-in-a-lifetime hot air balloon safari is part of an eight-day ‘Maasai Wanderings over the Mara’ journey which continues on to Nairobi and Malindi. Highlights include a stay at the famous Giraffe Manor, indulgent spa treatments on the rooftop of the Sakina Ocean Spa and ramblings at the 12th century Swahili ruins of Gede.

The ‘Maasai Wanderings over the Mara’ experience starts from £4,045 per person including flights, transfers, accommodation and selected excursions.

  1. Lovely photos! I agree hot air balloon is one of the most exciting ways to witness the great migration. I’ve heard stories saying it’s a dreamy and remarkable experience, though it can be pricey. I’m sure it’s worth it especially if you’re traveling with your partner for a romantic escape. Just make sure to book with reliable providers, and you will get the fairest price for the activity.
