High profile species such as tigers, lions, elephants, giraffe and gorillas are housed within 32 acres of parkland and 2014 will see the opening of the new Orang Utan House with multi-level viewing. Its Active Oceans arena incorporates the largest sealion pool in the UK.
Opening in 1972 and run by the council until 2007, the zoo is now owned by Spanish leisure giants Parques Reunidos and the zoo occupies the site of a former airfield on which Lancaster bombers were assembled during World War II.

Groups are offered discounted rates and visits can be tailored to individual parties’ needs. GTOs are offered pre-visits. Free coaching parking is available on site.
