The Amboseli Trust for Elephants has been monitoring the family since 1973, with support from Born Free, and the elephants have even starred in a BBC TV series – ‘Echo of the Elephants’. The herd were led by wise matriarch Echo, who guided and protected them, but sadly Echo died of old age in May 2009 aged 64. Her family continues to flourish and today has dozens of members, including Echo’s sisters, daughters and granddaughters.

Amboseli Park is set within 150 square miles of Kenyan national park – at the foot of  Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro – and is well known for its elephant population.

By adopting the elephant family you help ensure the Amboseli elephants are protected from ivory poachers and their savannah home is kept safe.
