BRAND NEW! Green Dragon Rare Breeds Farm & Eco Centre

Green Dragon Rare Breeds Farm & Eco Centre, Aylesbury Vale District, United Kingdom

The Green Dragon Rare Breeds Farm & Eco Centre is a new animal attraction in Buckinghamshire that opened in March 2015. Visitors to the farm can bottle-feed new born lambs and meet goats Tom, Dick and Harry, dexter cattle and calves, chickens, and two female Oxford Sandy & Blacks piglets (called gilts). These are a rare traditional breed of pig, increasing in popularity from virtual extinction 20 years ago.

In the Pet Shed, Rosie And Roxie the guinea-pigs now have a new home at Green Dragon and families can enjoy the Messy Play Barn with its sandpits, fossil hunting and trikes.

The Eco Centre, a new timber building that serves as the focal point of Green Dragon Rare Breeds Farm, opened in October 2014. The Eco Café is open daily from 9.30am to 6pm, offering breakfasts, morning coffee, light lunches and afternoon tea, and there’s a seasonal menu. Facilities include baby changing, disabled toilets and a lift.

Green Dragon Rare Breeds Farm and Eco Centre has been the dream of owner, Ray Marzec, whose long-held ambition of opening a rare breeds farm became a vision to showcase not just the conservation of endangered farm animals, but good, locally-sourced food, heritage fruit and veg, renewable energy systems, waste prevention, and the conservation of wildlife. Still to come is a nature trail, and an orchard and walled garden to supply the café.
