A herd of 15 elephants have recently been spotted having a nap in a forest in Kunming, China’s southern Yunnan province, after travelling 500km.
The group of Asian elephants have been travelling through villages, towns and cities in southwest China for the past year, wreaking mild havoc along the way as they break into farms for food and water.
Local authorities are continuing to track their movements. It is still unknown why the animals have decided to leave their home. Although some sources have stated they have been attracted to the corn, tropical fruit and other crops available in the tropical region.
