An award-winning Australian documentary about the iconic kangaroo has qualified for the 2019 Academy Awards.
Written, produced and directed by Kate McIntyre Clere (Yogawoman) and Mick McIntyre’s (Aussie Rules the World), KANGAROO a Love Hate story is a controversial film about one of the world’s most recognizable creatures.
While top companies, sports teams and souvenir-makers proudly use the ‘image’ of the kangaroo, many consider them only as pests to be shot and sold for food and profit. This ground-breaking film examines the love-hate relationship at the very heart of a divided country.
Directors Kate and Mick explain; “To make Kangaroo, we travelled thousands of kilometres across the magnificent Australian outback, speaking with Indigenous Australians, scientists, meat processors, commercial shooters, farmers, politicians, artists, wildlife carers, chefs and activists, to explore the wonder of this magnificent and unique animal and wove together this unsettling story for the world to see.”
