Fred. Olsen offers access to wildlife around the world

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines is highlighting the wealth of wildlife that features on its cruise itineraries around the world this summer.

The company’s varied shore tours include the opportunity to traverse the waters of Iceland’s magical fjordland on a whale-watching adventure, spot caiman deep within the Amazon with an overnight stay in Manaus, witness komodo dragons in Indonesia, see turtles in the Caribbean and search out the Australian ‘big five’ – koala, kangaroo, platypus, emu and wombat – in the Southern Highlands.

The British Isles are not forgotten on itineraries with Boudicca‘s ‘Wildlife of England & Scotland’ cruise in July 2017 gives the opportunity to see golden eagles, Arctic terns, bearded tits, razorbills, puffins and bitterns.

The Galapagos Islands offer some fascinating wildlife and cruises include a ‘South American Discovery’ tour on Boudicca in January 2017 and a ‘Wonders of the World’ voyage on Black Watch in January 2018. The islands are renowned for high levels of endemism, with around 80% of land birds, 97% of reptiles and land mammals, and nearly 20% of marine species found nowhere else on Earth. These include the famous Galapagos tortoises – one of only two remaining groups of giant tortoises in the world.

You’ll also find experts on board certain cruises, including Robin Petch, who has been involved with whales, dolphins and the marine environment for nearly 25 years, who regularly lectures on board.
