Escape the cold and wet weather over the festive holidays and visit The Stratford-upon-Avon Butterfly Farm where temperatures are guaranteed to hit 25°C and over.
Discover the stunningly beautiful Christmas Butterfly, also known as Papilio Demodocus, which is part of the Swallowtail family. This magnificent butterfly is sourced directly from butterfly farmers of the Kipepeo Project, a community enterprise based in and around the Arabuko-Sokoke forest in Kenya. Kipepeo is Swahili for butterfly and the project provides a sustainable income for the people of this area, showing that conservation can be achieved while still earning a living.
From the 27th December to the 5th January, children and adults can also take part in twice-daily ‘Meet the Mini-Beast’ handling sessions in the Discovery Zone at the Butterfly Farm. Daring visitors can hold creatures such as a Madagascan Hissing Cockroach, giant African Millipede, African Land Snail and a variety of Stick Insects. Now here’s a holiday experience worth telling your friends about!
