In keeping with tradition, Nausicaa will be marking this special occasion with a host of surprises and festivities. During the week of May 18th 2016, the anniversary date, a week long programme of events is being planned to celebrate this moment in the manner it deserves.
For this very special year, a brand new exhibition has been created, focusing on animals which display a vivid range of colours. The Tropical Forest, like coral reefs, is a symbol of biodiversity. It provides a habitat for more than one-half of all the Earth’s animal and plant species and they all depend on each other. Among the species living in the tropical forest, NAUSICAA has decided to display frogs, lizards, snakes and chameleons.
Frogs are the most common amphibian in the rainforest. Unlike frogs from temperate climates, tropical frogs live in trees thanks to the humidity in the forest. This ecosystem is also home to numerous constrictor snakes or creatures with very little venom and lizards.
The long corridor flanking the tropical forest then opens onto a wonderful display of crocodiles and freshwater fish in the Submerged Forest.
At the beginning of the exhibition, visitors can see some amazing animals from our coastlines such as the curled octopus, cuttlefish, seahorses and pipefish.
