A new state-of-the-art falconry centre has opened at nature and adventure park Robin Hill on the Isle of Wight. Falcons, hawks, eagles, vultures and owls have all taken up residence; in fact the centre allows visitors to experience 16 different species of birds, learn about their habits and the conservation of the varied populations, and watch them fly untethered as part of falconry displays.
Since the introduction of the newest member to Robin Hill’s bird of prey team in May 2021, Chief – an incredibly rare White-Tailed Sea Eagle – falconry has enjoyed huge interest within the park. Now, nature lovers and families can visit resident birds of prey in their brand-new home, open for the 2022 season.The impressive complex features 28 purpose-built aviaries, which have been lovingly created by the in-park team, with the wellbeing of the birds at the forefront of the project.
Placed in the tranquil beauty of 88 acres of peaceful woodland, the centre will form a pivotal role at Robin Hill, providing educational and conservation information from the charismatic falconry team on hand between the displays.
During the Easter holidays, guests sailing over to the Isle of Wight can take their seats in Robin Hill’s outdoor arena to enjoy an increased number of bird of prey displays. The creatures fly low above the crowd as their trainers describe their unique personalities, the conservation of the species, and the life they face in the wild. Additional experts will be on hand to answer all questions between displays and around the aviaries, for families, nature lovers and wildlife fans alike to get even closer to understanding these majestic birds.
And for real enthusiasts, Robin Hill’s falconry team are hosting ‘Hawk Walks’ through the park’s woodlands daily Monday to Friday (11th – 15th and 18th -21st April) at 15.45, with Balrick the Harris Haw leading the way!

Daily displays are included free with all standard park admission tickets and take place at the Falconry Display Area. Ticket prices start from £22 if booked online in advance, and most ticket options offer 7 days of free returns. Under 4s go free.
