The National Marine Aquarium is a charity dedicated to conservation, research and education. Its mission is to drive marine conservation through engagement. It is committed to conserving the marine environment and encouraging others to do the same.
The attraction is divided into four themed sections; Plymouth Sound, British Coasts, Blue Planet and Atlantic Ocean (which includes the UK’s biggest tank holding 2.5 million litres of water) and displays include sharks, lobsters, crabs, jellyfish and a loggerhead turtle.
The aquarium works with the Shark Trust to produce a Basking Shark Code of Conduct and supports the Lobster Hatchery in Padstow.
