The National Sea Life Centre Birmingham is gearing up for a half term to remember (13th-21st February) during its 20th anniversary year, as it invites families to experience its fun-filled Ancient Oceans event.
As part of this exciting event, there will be a range of activities, workshops and talks taking place, and the charismatic Dr Dug will be on hand to oversee archaeological digs. Visitors will also get the opportunity to learn about the fascinating history of the oceans and the evolution of the mesmerising sea creatures, some of which have been around for over 200 million years, such as sharks, jellyfish and turtles.
Visitors will be able to get closer than ever before to familiar favourites, including Molokai, the Giant Green Sea Turtle, who was found in a lady’s handbag, the Gentoo penguin colony, who never fail to delight visitors and shiver of different shark species, such as Black Tip Reef Sharks and Nurse Sharks. And not to mention an incredible school of rays including the Bowmouth Guitarfish, a rare species that can grow up to a whopping nine foot in length!
