In the second of our films from Fregate Island in the Seychelles, we meet the Magpie Robin, a native species that was on the brink of extinction, with only 12 left in the world.
Conservation efforts have now succeeded in building the population back up, and the island’s Giant Tortoises have created a symbiotic relationship with the birds; by moving the ground when they walk, they help shake up the terrain for the Magpie Robin, who follow behind hoovering up the insects that are revealed!
