Naturalist and TV presenter Chris Packham is calling on all those who care about wildlife to join him in Hyde Park on Saturday 22nd September for the People’s Walk for Wildlife.
If you are concerned about our disappearing native species and want to do something about it, join Chris and a number of conservation experts in raising awareness for our hedgehogs and foxes, badgers and bees, owls and many more.
Research has found that as many as 44 million birds have been lost from the UK countryside since 1966. Your wildlife needs you to help bring attention to their alarming rate of decline.
Chris is encouraging children and schools to get involved too by making some beautiful banner art, paper mache animals, or dressing up as their favourite creatures on the day.
Children can also submit entries to the Dictionary of Wildlife Wonders and Spells – a collection of awe inspiring words and writing from young people who love wildlife, capturing the magical wonder of wildlife that many grown-ups lose touch with. The most awesome will be read out just before the walk begins. Click here to find out more on how to enter.
Chris plans to release a download of birdsong nearer the time and wants all walkers on the 22nd Septembers to play this to replicate the sound of the missing bird millions. Keep an eye on Chris’s website for further details – www.chrispackham.co.uk/the-peoples-walk-for-wildlife
