Keepers at Ventura Wildlife Park in Hertfordshire were delighted to discover a new set of stripes during their morning checks this week.
A baby Grant’s zebra arrived during the early hours of Wednesday and is the first offspring for parents Zelda and Sonny, who arrived at the Park in 2016.
The Grant’s zebra is a sub-species of the plains zebra and is the smallest zebra in the world. The new arrival can now be seen by visitors alongside her mum, with keepers happy that initial interactions look extremely promising.
Ashley Palmier, Ventura Wildlife Park’s founder/owner said; “We are delighted to announce the arrival of our first ever baby zebra which is amazing news for us all. This birth is something we are extremely proud of and something for all the community to enjoy.
We could not have asked for a better way to end the Easter school holidays and we look forward to sharing our newest arrival with visitors in the coming weeks and months, especially as we head into our busiest time of the year for school and group visits.”
