Animals getting festive at Chessington Zoo

With the countdown to Christmas now officially underway, Chessington World of Adventures has been getting into the festive spirit with treats for some of its 1,000 residents.

The Western Lowland gorillas enjoyed a 6ft Christmas tree,  carefully decorated by primate keepers with aubergine snowmen, sweet potato candy canes, leek crackers, butternut squash and swede stars, apple baubles, carrot icicles and grape trimmings.

Elsewhere at the Surrey Resort, the squirrel monkeys acted out their own Love Actually moments from the iconic festive film,  while one cheeky owl paid a visit to Father Christmas.

Chessington World of Adventures Resort is currently open on selected dates throughout December and January for its Winter’s Tail event. For more information visit Chessington.com/Christmas
