ZSL London Zoo will be raising awareness for bird of prey the vulture this weekend with a series of dedicated events.
Vulture Awareness Weekend takes place at the zoo on Saturday 2 & Sunday 3 September. Visitors are invited to come along and learn more about these amazing animals and ZSL’s conservation work with vultures in Nepal.
Various events will be on offer throughout the weekend, including vulture feeds which allow visitors the opportunity to get up close to the zoo’s different vulture species.
Afternoon displays will highlight the differences between old and new world vultures and include a special presentation highlighting the plight of vultures in India.
Vulture populations have declined dramatically in Nepal and ZSL are helping towards the international conservation effort. ZSL staff will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about these often misunderstood scavenging birds and how you can help with conservation.
There will also be an opportunity to buy tickets for the Vulture Awareness Weekend raffle, which will be drawn and prizes awarded at 4pm each day. All proceeds will go directly to ZSL’s vulture conservation project in Nepal.
