A visual guide offering great advice on how often different dog breeds should be walked each day has been created by specialist country and equestrian store Houghton Country.
The informative graphics show how different dog breeds – from herding and hound dogs to terriers and toy dogs – need a recommended total walking time of between 30 to 120 minutes per day. The guide also reveals that the size of the dog is not always an indicator of how long the walk should be, which may surprise some.
The dog walking recommendations follows a recent feature for Psychology Today by author and dog psychologist Stanley Coren, PhD., DSc., FRSC. who found that around 41 percent of dog owners do not regularly walk their dogs.
Coren’s analysis also revealed that shockingly 57 percent of dog-walking owners admit to skipping walks each week.
Handy advice for first-time dog owners and those considering a doggy best friend in the near future!
