Wildlife photography exhibition opens in London

Running until 1st October, a stunning exhibition featuring the wildlife photography of Nesta Wigan has opened at The Osborne Studio Gallery in Belgravia, London.

A cheetah surveys the landscape in a photo that is part of a new wildlife photography exhibition in London — Taken on the Maasai Mara, Nesta writes: ‘This is a female cheetah called Risasi who was waiting and watching shortly before a kill.’

With a Kenyan step family of coffee farmers, Nesta grew up dividing her time between Kenya and the UK, experiencing her first safari in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, aged 10, trying out her first camera. She went on to study digital media production including cinematography at Oxford Brookes University, and in 2015 spent her first university summer break in Lewa, assisting the Tusk Trust on the Safaricom Marathon. Other highlights of Nesta’s wildlife photography include tracking black rhinos with rangers and working in the Arabuko Sokoke forest on the Kenyan coast.

Kiongozi the lion in a photo that forms part of a new wildlife exhibition in London — Kiongozi, which means the leader in Swahili. Nesta writes: ‘The lion was walking directly towards the truck and I was able to get this low angle shot as there were no doors on the side of the truck.’

The Maasai Mara is where she still finds most of her inspiration, documenting the glorious and often unexpected wildlife adventures of Africa. She is now dedicated to the conservation of vulnerable, endangered species. Her favourite animals are rhino, elephant and cheetah.

Nesta writes: ‘It was a natural pool they were drinking from and I even went for a swim whilst he was drinking shortly after this photo was taken.’
