Marwell Zoo in Hampshire has teamed up with Dorset-based Backdoorshoes to create leopard print gardening clogs which not only look good but also raise money for a great cause.
Inspired by Marwell’s very own Amur leopard, Kaia, international conservation charity Marwell Wildlife, which operates Marwell Zoo, receives a donation for every pair sold of these super stylish vegan shoes.
Discover Animals were lucky enough to ‘garden test’ the British designed footwear, which proved hugely useful as soon as they arrived. The slip-on, clog style shoes are made of durable, waterproof rubber and surprisingly light, weighing just 200g.
The fit is roomy enough to accommodate a thick sock, without the shoe feeling loose, and would work well in the garden, walking the dog, taking the bins out, or popping to the post box. In fact, these super handy clogs with removable, washable insoles have made all these tasks much easier already!
The sole is also thick and textured, which is great for the wet and muddy (look forward to trying these out in the snow too) and feel sturdy enough to manage uneven ground. Living by the seaside, I’d be more than happy to walk a pebble beach in these, which can be a challenge in other footwear.
It’s quite a unique experience to know the pattern on your shoes is from a real-life leopard, and certainly a talking point – especially as a donation from each sale will help Marwell Wildlife with its conservation work around the world. Clever clogs indeed!
Available in sizes UK 3 – 8, price £26.95 including postage from www.backdoorshoes.co.uk.
