Home to a whopping 3,500 fish including Europe’s only pair of green sawfish, spectacular sharks and rays. The Deep is an environmental and conservation charity dedicated to increasing the knowledge and understanding of the world’s oceans, journeying from the birth of the oceans into the future.
Generally found in Indonesia to Japan, and south to Northern Australia, they prey on many fish and small mollusks, but are also preyed on by the killer whale and hammer head shark.
NAUSICAA is the French National Sea Life Centre in the coastal town of Boulogne-sur-Mer. There are 36,000 animals from 1,000 different species living at NAUSICAA. It is a member of the World Ocean Network and recently opened a new exhibition, At Sea On Board the Thalassa.
Living Coasts in Torquay, run by the Whitley Wildlife Conservation Trust, is the best in Europe for breeding a number of key species including African penguins, blue spotted stingrays and Inca terns, for which the attraction manages the European studbook.
